1. Who We Are
MyGuardian is an assistive caregiver monitoring and alerting product for families who want a calmer way to watch over someone they love. The product includes desktop and mobile apps, camera pairing workflows, local alarms, monitoring boundaries, motion tracking, event history, and related website features.
This Privacy Policy applies to MyGuardian apps for Android, iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and Windows, as well as the MyGuardian website at myguardiancam.com. The developer and privacy contact for this policy is MyGuardian, reachable at sales@myguardiancam.com.
2. Important Health and Safety Notice
MyGuardian is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, prevent, treat, or confirm seizures, epilepsy events, dementia events, falls, sleep disorders, or any other medical condition. The app is intended to assist caregivers by monitoring camera-based movement patterns and raising alerts when configured conditions may need attention.
Because families may use MyGuardian in sensitive caregiving situations, the information entered into the app should be treated as sensitive. Always seek appropriate medical care in emergencies and follow the guidance of qualified medical professionals.
3. Data the Apps May Access or Store
Camera and video data: MyGuardian may access camera feeds from IP cameras, phones or tablets acting as cameras, integrated webcams, or desktop camera devices. Camera frames are used to display live views, detect movement, draw monitoring boundaries, and support local alerting. Current builds are designed around local processing and do not upload live video to a MyGuardian cloud video service.
Monitoring settings and event data: The apps may store camera names, active camera choices, monitored boundaries, sensitivity thresholds, sustained-window settings, alert state, acknowledgement pauses, alarm history, event review notes, and similar configuration data. This helps the app remember caregiver choices and explain why an alert occurred.
Caregiver and household setup data: If you add contacts or escalation steps, the app may store names, roles, phone numbers, email addresses, and notification preferences locally in the app. By default, fresh installs should only include local device alerting until a caregiver adds more information.
Camera connection data: To connect IP cameras or paired phone cameras, the app may store local network addresses, stream paths, pairing PIN status, device names, and camera credentials that you enter. Passwords and pairing codes should not be displayed publicly after setup.
Device and diagnostic data: The apps may use device model, operating system, app version, camera availability, local network discovery results, and performance diagnostics to support app functionality, troubleshooting, and compatibility.
Website data: If you submit an early access request or contact form, the website may collect the information you provide, such as name, email address, platform interest, role, and message. The website may also keep basic access statistics such as page path, time, IP address, user agent, and referrer for security, abuse prevention, and product planning.
Subscriptions and purchases: Subscription functionality is being prepared but is not enabled in the current public testing flow. If enabled later, Google Play, Apple, or another app store may process payment details. MyGuardian would receive only the information needed to confirm subscription status, such as product ID, entitlement status, transaction identifiers, and renewal state.
4. Data We Do Not Intentionally Collect in Current Builds
Current builds do not ask for clinical records, diagnoses, prescriptions, Health Connect data, government ID numbers, financial account numbers, phone contacts, SMS message contents, call logs, or precise GPS location for core monitoring. If a future feature requires new sensitive data, we will update the app disclosures, permissions, Data Safety information, and this policy before enabling that feature.
Current builds do not sell personal or sensitive user data and do not use camera, caregiver, household, or monitoring data for advertising personalization.
5. How We Use Data
We use app data to provide the core MyGuardian experience: showing live camera views, detecting configured movement patterns, tracking monitoring windows, sounding local alarms, letting caregivers acknowledge alerts, saving settings, pairing cameras, and helping caregivers review events.
We use website and early access data to respond to requests, prioritize platform development, improve the website, prevent abuse, and communicate with people who asked to hear from MyGuardian. We do not use early access submissions as public testimonials unless you separately agree.
6. How Data Is Shared
We do not sell personal or sensitive user data. We do not share live camera feeds with advertisers or data brokers.
Current app builds are local-first. Camera feeds from IP cameras, webcams, and phone cameras are intended to remain on the local network or between explicitly paired devices, unless you configure a future remote access feature. MyGuardian does not currently operate a cloud service that stores or relays your live video.
We may share limited data with service providers only when needed to run the website, process app store subscriptions if enabled, deliver future push notifications, maintain security, or provide support. These providers are expected to handle data only for the requested service.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the public, to investigate abuse, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets with appropriate notice and protections.
7. Permissions Used by the Apps
Camera permission may be used to show a device camera, test local monitoring, or allow a phone or tablet to act as a MyGuardian camera. Local network access may be used to discover IP cameras, paired phone cameras, and monitoring stations on the same network.
Notification permission may be used for local alerts and future push notifications. Storage or media permissions may be used if you choose to save, import, or export configuration, screenshots, logs, or event-related media. The app should request platform permissions before accessing protected data.
8. Notifications, SMS, Email, and Remote Viewing
Local device alarms are part of the current app experience. SMS, email, push notification, and remote viewing features are planned or experimental and should remain disabled unless the app clearly presents them as available and you configure them.
If remote viewing or off-network notification delivery is introduced, MyGuardian will update this policy and app disclosures to explain what data leaves the local network, which service providers are used, how data is protected, and how caregivers can disable the feature.
9. Security
MyGuardian is designed to minimize cloud exposure by processing monitoring locally where possible. Website traffic uses HTTPS. Camera credentials, pairing information, and household settings should be stored only as needed for the app to function.
No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure. You can reduce risk by using strong camera passwords, keeping devices updated, using trusted home networks, removing cameras you no longer use, and sharing access only with caregivers you trust.
10. Data Retention and Deletion
Local app data remains on the device until you delete it, reset the app, remove specific cameras or contacts, clear history where available, or uninstall the app. Camera credentials and settings should be removed when you remove a camera profile.
Website early access and contact submissions may be retained while they are useful for communication, product planning, security, and recordkeeping. You can request deletion of information you submitted by contacting sales@myguardiancam.com.
MyGuardian does not currently require account creation for the core app experience. If account creation is introduced, we will provide an in-app and web-accessible way to request account and associated data deletion.
11. Children and Family Use
MyGuardian is intended for use by parents, guardians, and caregivers. The app may be used by an adult caregiver to monitor a child or loved one, but the product is not intended for children to create accounts or submit personal information directly.
Caregivers are responsible for using the app in a lawful and respectful way, including obtaining any consent required in their household, care setting, or jurisdiction before using cameras or monitoring features.
12. International Use
MyGuardian is operated from the United States. If you use the website or submit information from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as MyGuardian changes. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, when appropriate, provide notice through the website, app, release notes, or other reasonable means.
